Annapolis Mayor Jared Littmann Announces City Council Committee Assignments For New Term
Annapolis Mayor Jared Littmann has announced his selections for the Annapolis City Council’s seven standing committees and the Audit Committee for the upcoming term. The appointments will be introduced by resolution at the first meeting of the newly elected City Council on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers at City Hall, 160 Duke of Gloucester Street.
Committee Assignments For The New Term
The City Council’s standing committees help shape legislation, guide policy, and provide oversight of city departments and programs. Members review proposed ordinances and resolutions, develop policy recommendations, and ensure that city government reflects community priorities. The Audit Committee plays a key role in monitoring the city’s financial health and compliance.
“It’s important to reflect the unique skillsets and viewpoints that each Alderperson brings to the table,” said Mayor Littmann. He noted that the appointment process was designed to ensure each committee benefits from a range of experience and perspectives to better serve Annapolis residents.
Standing Committee Chairs And Members
For the Economic Matters Committee, Ald. Brooks Schandelmeier (Ward 5) will serve as chair, with Ald. Janice Allsup-Johnson (Ward 4) and Ald. Rob Savidge (Ward 7) as members.
The Environmental Matters Committee will be chaired by Ald. Rob Savidge (Ward 7), joined by Ald. Diesha Contee (Ward 6) and Ald. Harry Huntley (Ward 1).
The Finance Committee will be led by chair Ald. Harry Huntley (Ward 1), with Ald. Karma O’Neill (Ward 2) and Ald. Frank Thorp (Ward 8) serving alongside him.
For the Housing & Human Welfare Committee, Ald. Diesha Contee (Ward 6) will chair, with Ald. Keanuú Smith-Brown (Ward 3) and Ald. Karma O’Neill (Ward 2) as committee members.
The Public Safety Committee chair will be Ald. Karma O’Neill (Ward 2), joined by Ald. Diesha Contee (Ward 6) and Ald. Keanuú Smith-Brown (Ward 3).
The Rules & City Government Committee will be chaired by Ald. Keanuú Smith-Brown (Ward 3), with Ald. Frank Thorp (Ward 8) and Ald. Brooks Schandelmeier (Ward 5) as members.
For the Transportation Committee, Ald. Janice Allsup-Johnson (Ward 4) will serve as chair, joined by Ald. Brooks Schandelmeier (Ward 5) and Ald. Rob Savidge (Ward 7).

Audit Committee To Oversee City Finances
On the Audit Committee, Ald. Frank Thorp (Ward 8) will serve as chair, with Ald. Harry Huntley (Ward 1) and Ald. Janice Allsup-Johnson (Ward 4) as members. The committee is responsible for reviewing financial reports, overseeing the annual audit, and helping ensure compliance with applicable laws and best practices.
Next Steps For Council Approval And Public Participation
The committee assignments will be formally introduced by resolution at Monday’s City Council meeting. A final vote on the assignments is expected at the first Council meeting in January, when standing committee meetings are scheduled to resume.
