Did you get your ballot application?

Did you get your ballot application?

On Tuesday, the city clerk’s office mailed out applications to get a mail-in ballot to all registered voters in the city. I got mine yesterday; maybe you’ll get yours today. It’s important that you return this application if you want to vote by mail in the city elections on September 16 and November 4. If you complete your application, the ballots for the primary will be mailed out in early September.

Crucially, to receive a mail-in ballot for city elections, you must send in that application even if you’re signed up with the state of Maryland to always receive a mail-in ballot. The two systems don’t yet talk to each other.

For anybody who doesn’t receive an application form in the next couple days, check that you’re registered to vote at your current address. You can then download, print, and send in the same mail-in ballot request form that should’ve been sent to you.

If you don’t want to vote by mail, that’s great too. Just show up at City Hall between 7 am and 8 pm on the day of the election. But you do need to be registered by August 18 to vote in the primary and by October 6 to vote in the general. There’s no same-day registration, and there’s no early voting.

If you completed your application, got a mail-in ballot, and then decide that you want to vote in-person, no worries. You can come to City Hall on election day and complete a provisional ballot that will be counted as long as you don’t also send in the mail-in ballot.

Got any questions? Just want a reminder? Send me a note, and I’ll be happy to help!

Want to help the campaign?

  • This Saturday morning, we’ll be out knocking doors in the neighborhood, and we could really use your help talking with people about why I’m the candidate to “make it happen!” Here’s a link to RSVP for the event.

  • I’d love to bring you a yard sign (corgi from the photo not included). You can request one here or just reply to this email.

  • And we always appreciate donations that pay for those yard signs, mailers, ads, t shirts, and more.

  • Interested in helping out, but knocking doors isn’t your thing? Sign up for other volunteer options here.

Thanks for reading, and remember to vote!

Sincerely,

Harry
