Special Update: State Delegation Endorses Harry
Huntley Locks Down State Delegation’s Endorsements, Launches New Webpage
Harry M Huntley, Ward One Alderman, announced that Annapolis’ full delegation in the State House has endorsed his bid for reelection. Senator Shaneka Henson, Delegate Dana Jones, and Delegate Dylan Behler–a Ward One resident–jointly announced their support as the first term alderman faces a crowded lane of challengers in the September primary.
District 30 Senator Shaneka Henson stated:
“Harry cares deeply about our community, he listens to all his neighbors, and he's already working hard to get things done for Annapolis. I know what it takes to sit on the city council, and I’ve been very impressed with Harry’s ‘Let’s make it happen!’ attitude towards improving city government.”
District 30A Delegate Dana Jones said:
“Harry has always been a dedicated, results-driven problem solver—long before he became an Alderman. He is honest and cares deeply about Annapolis, showing up day in and day out to make our communities better. On the city council, he’s brought that same passion and energy to tackling tough issues, and I’ve seen firsthand how effectively he builds consensus to move the city forward. He is a selfless public servant who embodies Democratic values, and he is the leader Ward One needs.”
District 30A Delegate and Ward One resident Dylan Behler added:
“I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Harry on policy to clean up the Chesapeake Bay and build more resilient communities; I’ve seen firsthand just how thoughtful and effective he is as a legislator. As a downtown resident, there’s no one I’m more excited to have representing me as alderman, and I hope you’ll join me in supporting him.”
Huntley has already been endorsed by Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth, County Executive Steuart Pittman, County Councilwoman Lisa Rodvien, School Board Representative Joanna Tobin, Mayor Gavin Buckley, mayoral candidate Jared Littmann, and six of his colleagues on the city council.
These and many more of Huntley’s endorsements can be viewed at his newly-launched webpage HarryMHuntley.com/endorsements.
Harry M Huntley responded to these endorsements, saying:
“From Congress to community associations and everywhere in between, the people we've trusted to lead us are unanimous: I'm the one to make it happen! Because Ward One is the seat of county and state government, partnership with other levels of government is especially important here for even the most basic issues, like fixing sidewalks.”
Huntley was appointed last September to complete the term of former Alderwoman Elly Tierney, who retired and moved to Massachusetts. Since then, he's introduced or passed legislation making sidewalks safer, capping the density of short term rentals, bringing transparency to campaign finances, and more.
The primary election is September 16, and the lane of challengers is crowded. Be sure to confirm your voter registration by August 18.
